Help with TapScribe

TapScribe support.

Start with the checks below. They cover the most important parts of a successful first recording without asking you to share a private conversation.

Start here

Make a short test recording before an important meeting.

After first-run setup, record a few seconds of your voice and some audible media playing on your Mac. Check both Me and Them, then stop and play the recording back. This catches missing permissions or an unexpected microphone before the real conversation begins.

Troubleshooting

Check one part of the path at a time.

01

Microphone: Me does not respond

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and allow TapScribe.
  2. Check which input macOS currently uses, especially after connecting or removing headphones.
  3. Make a short test recording, speaking at a normal distance from the selected microphone. Stop and check playback.

02

Mac audio: Them does not respond

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording (the label varies with macOS).
  2. Allow TapScribe. This permission provides Mac audio; TapScribe does not record the picture on your screen.
  3. Play audible media on the Mac during a short test recording. Confirm that Them responds, then stop and check playback.

03

Model download or preparation

  1. Keep TapScribe open and keep the Mac connected while the roughly 465 MB model downloads.
  2. “Preparing model…” happens after the files arrive and can take longer than the visible download progress suggests.
  3. If setup reports a failure rather than continuing, note the exact message before retrying.

04

Find a recording and its transcript

  1. Open the TapScribe Library and select the meeting.
  2. Use Reveal in Finder to open that meeting’s underlying folder.
  3. Check Settings when you need to see or change the main recordings-folder location.

Bugs and feature requests

Tell us what could work better.

Report a bug

Explain what you expected, what happened instead and the steps to reproduce it. Include:

  • Mac model and macOS version
  • TapScribe version and build shown in Settings → About
  • Which step failed and the exact visible message
  • Whether Me, Them or both were affected, and any microphone or headphones in use
  • Whether it happens every time or only sometimes

Remove private names and content from screenshots, and never include a full licence key. Do not send meeting audio or transcripts unless support specifically requests a safe, non-sensitive test file and you are comfortable sharing it.

Request a feature

Tell us what you are trying to do, what gets in the way, how you handle it today and how often you need it. A concrete example helps us understand the problem behind the idea.

Requests help guide improvements; sending one does not guarantee a feature or a delivery date.
