James Godwin

TapScribe is operated by James Godwin, a sole proprietor trading as TapScribe in South Africa. Business/service address: 32 Island Road, Sedgefield, 6573, South Africa. For product and licence support, email support@tapscribe.app. Polar is the Merchant of Record for purchases completed through its hosted checkout.

Trial and purchase

TapScribe offers a 14-day full-product trial with no credit card, followed by a US$49 one-time purchase. There is no automatic charge at trial expiry. Purchase starts from the installed app and opens Polar's hosted checkout in the browser.

30-day money-back guarantee

If TapScribe isn’t right for you, request a full refund within 30 days of purchase. You do not need to prove a software defect. The refund window starts on the purchase date and is separate from the 14-day free trial. This voluntary guarantee does not limit statutory consumer rights.

How to request a refund

Installation scope

One licence is for one person on up to two of their own Macs. You can deactivate an old Mac and transfer activation to a replacement. Separate people require separate licences.

Existing recordings remain yours

Existing recordings remain accessible, playable and exportable after trial expiry or loss of licensed access. A licence is required for new recordings and file imports.

Included updates and optional major upgrades

Launch purchases include version 1.0 and all 1.x updates, including the move from a pre-1.0 commercial release to version 1.0. All updates released within 12 months of purchase are also included. Your version 1.0 and all 1.x updates remain included, even beyond 12 months. This applies to existing and new purchases, measured from each original purchase date. Major versions released after the first 12 months may require a separate purchase. Upgrading is optional: declining a paid major upgrade does not itself cancel your existing licence. Continued operation depends on supported Mac/macOS versions and the published licence-validation requirements. Lifetime updates and unspecified future products or services are not included.

Record conversations appropriately

The user remains responsible for recording consent, access to the Mac, exported copies, chosen synced folders and any professional or organisational rules that apply.

Checkout and licence handling

Polar handles checkout and licence activation. Activation requires an internet connection. An activated Mac has a 30-day offline allowance from its last successful licence validation. Reconnect when the app asks you to validate access. Checkout and licence traffic is separate from meeting-content processing.
